Tempel Best Choice for Rural Montana – Independent News of the Hi-Line

Editor:

We are a bipartisan household living in the seat of Montana government, Helena. We cannot vote in Senate District 14, but we realize that all Senators play an important role in Montana’s government. We want to encourage candidates we know will be outstanding legislators, the men and women who will help keep our state the “Last Best Place”.

We believe Sen. Russ Tempel to be one of those outstanding men. Ken met Russ when both were county commissioners of their respective counties, Fergus and Liberty. During those years as commissioners, Ken saw Russ make decisions for the betterment of his county and his constituents. They both served on the Montana Association of Counties’ board of directors, a decision-making board for all 56 counties. The experience gave Russ the expertise to make sound decisions at the state level.

We had the privilege of Russ living in our home during the past legislative session. While serving in the 2017 Legislature we found him to be contemplative about issues and saw his willingness to work across the aisle to create bills that are good for Montanans. He supported such issues as Medicare expansion, medical marijuana, and mail-in ballots.

We encourage those in Senate District 14 to look at Russ’ history in the Chester community and his work as a county commissioner for Liberty County. Those in Hill, Cascade and Choteau need only to look at the work Russ did as a senator in 2017. Then cast your vote for the candidate that will make the best choices for rural communities and Montana citizens.
