A local judge sentenced a man who was caught traveling on Amtrak with more than two ounces of marijuana to probation.
District Judge Kaydee Snipes Ruiz gave Taylor James Wiegert a three-year deferred imposition of sentence for felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
On Oct. 21, 2018, U.S. Border Patrol agents, including a narcotics-detecting dog, performed a train check when the Amtrak pulled into Havre.
The canine indicated there were illegal drugs in Wiegert’s black and orange luggage bag. Agents discovered nearly 2.5 ounces of pot and 19 grams of hash oil in the bag.
