A 52-year-old Havre man was found dead at Fresno Reservoir early Saturday.

Jonnie Ray Holden was looking for a jet ski that had floated away while driving a Polaris RXR ATV, according to a Montana Highway Patrol dispatcher.

“He did not see a steep dropoff and he drove off the bank of the reservoir,” the dispatcher said this morning.

Law enforcement discovered Holden’s body Saturday at 12:01 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol, speed and not wearing a seat belt played a role in his death, MHP said.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Update: This story has been updated to include the name of the deceased.
