Havre Man Wanted After Escaping From Billings Pre-Release Center

Montana authorities are looking for a 23-year-old Havre man who escaped from a Billings pre-release center last weekend.

Zachariah Lee Ambler is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has several tattoos.

He walked away from the Alpha House Men’s Pre-release Center on Saturday and was placed on the Montana Department of Corrections escape list on Monday.

Amy Barton, acting communications director for the Corrections Department, said Ambler was three months into his term at the pre-release center. Usually, she said, inmates are kept at the pre-release center for six months as the last step in their incarceration.

Ambler was convicted of criminal possession of a dangerous drug in Lake County in 2018.

Prior to that, he had several scrapes with the law in Hill County.

In 2017, Ambler was sentenced three times by former 12th Judicial District Judge Daniel Boucher, once for criminal possession of dangerous drugs, another time for burglary, and in another case for theft.
