Havre Police Arrest Student Who Allegedly Yelled ‘School Shooting’ – Independent News of the Hi-Line

Havre Police officers arrested Wednesday an 18-year-old who yelled “school shooting” while in the Havre High School library, according to a press release issued this morning by the Havre Police Department.

Dyllan James Murray was arrested on two charges after noon Wednesday: assault by coercion, intimidation, or threat; and disorderly conduct.

“Officers had learned while Murray was in the library of the school, Murray yelled ‘School Shooting!’ Murray was escorted to the principal’s office where he persisted in a disruptive behavior,” the press release says.

Murray was transported to the Hill County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. The investigation is being sent to the Hill County attorney for formal charges, the release says.

On Tuesday, Havre High School was shut down because of a threat that was written in the boy’s bathroom on Monday. Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich said this morning the investigation into the written threat is still ongoing and they’re looking into whether it’s related to Murray’s behavior and arrest.

“That we don’t know right now,” Matosich said.  “We’re still looking into it.”

Crimestoppers announced Thursday afternoon that a reward of up to $200 is available for anyone with information leading up to the arrest or conviction of the person or persons responsible for the threat.
