Suspect Crashes Into Havre House During Pursuit; Drugs Allegedly Involved

A pursuit late Tuesday ended after the driver crashed into a house in Havre. Residents inside the home were not injured.

One suspect has been arrested, 35-year-old Franklin Caplette, while two others remain at large.

Hill County Sheriff Jamie Ross said in a press release: “There is no immediate danger to the public at this time.”

Caplette is being held in the Hill County Detention Center on pending charges of obstruction, possession of dangerous drugs, and a federal probation hold.

Here’s what happened.

At 7:33 p.m. Tuesday, the Hill County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Chippewa Cree Tribal Police to be on the lookout for a white 2007 Ford F-150. Deputies were told one of the people in the car was a Probation and Parole absconder and may have been in the Havre area.

Deputies found the pickup at 8:32 p.m. near Washington Avenue and 14th Street West in Havre.

When deputies neared the vehicle, the driver sped off, kicking off a pursuit through town.

Deputies lost the vehicle, but found it moments later, after it crashed into a house in the 600 block of Fifth Street North.

“The occupants of the residence were uninjured, and the suspects fled the area on foot,” the press release said.
